Summary

The San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) is soliciting proposals for a Pedestrian Collision Avoidance Detection (PCAD) system with a connected telematics subscription for transit and paratransit vehicles. The system will utilize bus-mounted cameras and sensors to alert operators of potential collisions with pedestrians, cyclists, or vehicles, with notifications provided via visual or audible alerts. The telematics component will connect via 4G LTE and provide RTD personnel with live and historical event data for five years. The project includes installation, training, planning, and documentation.
